GIS Strategy Development
A GIS Strategy document, also called a GIS Strategic Plan, is a document that sets the direction of GIS within an organisation. After analysing the organisation’s objectives, activities, data, workflows and requirements, a GIS Strategy will document how an organisation can get the most value from its business using GIS. The performance of any pre-existing GIS is assessed and areas of potential improvement are identified. Essentially, a GIS Strategy is a roadmap for the future of a GIS within an organisation that takes into account all the five components of GIS namely, Hardware, Software, Data, People and Procedures.
