Cadastral Surveying Is the sub-field of surveying that specializes in the establishment and re-establishment of real property boundaries. It involves the measuring of property such as the planning of towns, cities, farms and sectional title properties and their subdivision. It is an important component of the legal creation of properties. By law, it is the exclusive function of land surveyors to do cadastral surveying and in doing so; they make an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the country. A cadastral surveyor applies both the spatial-measurement principles of general surveying and legal principles such as respect of neighbouring titles.
